For a lot of people the notion of world peace has become an idealistic vision that’s reserved for holiday toasts and unrealistic utopian musings. The very thought of achieving peace on earth—especially in light of the current political climate—feels like an impossible dream. This is not the case with the exhibit “The Missing Peace” opening at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on Saturday, December 1. The show features a multitude of international artists who have all creatively articulated the Dalai Lama’s principles of peace and humanity through art. In true “peace on earth” holiday spirit, YBCA is hosting an opening night party for the arresting exhibit. “The Missing Peace” opening party promises a night of eclectic international entertainment with exhibiting artists in attendance, a live performance by Cambodian pop group Dengue Fever and dance troop the Non-Stop Bhangra Collective, a screening of documentary The Cup about soccer-obsessed Tibetan monks and a raffle for the chance to win the "Weekend in the City" package that includes a day at the Kamala spa. The peace-inspiring festivities kick off at 8 p.m. at the Yerba Buena Center for the arts.
