Friday, June 21

Susie Norris and Susan Keeger, authors of the sinfully sweet cookbook Hand-Crafted Candy Bars, are due to pay a visit to Omnivore Books for a signing, demonstration, and tasting of some of their favorite sweets. Their work, published by SF’s own Chronicle Books, is a celebration of delicious indulgences and grown-up confections. Bring your sweet tooth to Omnivore Books, 3885 Cesar Chavez Street. 6-7 p.m.

Sunday, June 23

The San Francisco Elks Lodge has been located downtown since 1925, but you wouldn’t know it based on how beautifully it has been maintained. To celebrate the recent reconstruction of its historic balcony, the Elks Lodge is hosting a Gatsby-themed brunch. Dress to the nines as you experience the famous Lodge bar, complete with animal heads mounted on the wall. With ticket purchase open to the public, it’s a unique opportunity to see the inside of this private San Francisco club. $20 per person, $15 for children under 12. 450 Post Street, San Francisco. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Purchase tickets online here.

San Franciscans are no strangers to pop-up restaurants, those little gems that rock our culinary world and leave us wanting more. The next big thing is happening at Parallel 37, featuring its chef Michael Rotondo in collaboration with Hiroo Nagahara of The Chairman Truck. These good friends and San Francisco natives have paired up for a one night only six-course tasting menu that blends, “Japanese-inspired dishes with nature-driven modernist cuisine.” $100 per person with an optional $70 beverage pairing. 600 Stockton Street, San Francisco. Wednesday, June 26

Let’s give wine a night off. Tequila is the star of the show as La Condesa warmly welcomes master distiller Adolfo Murillo for a night of modern Mexican food and spirits. Offering insight and knowledge into the production of his ultra-premium gold-medal USDA Certified Organic tequilas, the night will also feature a three-course dinner prepared by La Condesa’s head chef Chris Mortenson. Thursday, June 27

Rowan Jacobsen, famous oyster authority and author of A Geography of Oysters is set to make a very special guest appearance at Water Bar’s happy hour. The restaurant that brought you OysterFest now introduces you to one of the most knowledgeable oyster experts to walk on dry land. Jacobsen will be signing copies of his book, chatting with guests on the patio, and even guest-shucking oysters. 399 Embarcadero Drive, San Francisco.

Friday, June 28

Join The Cheese School for Pairingpalooza, a combination of their favorite summer cheeses, a “mountain” of preserves and produce, and an array of sparkling wines paired with all of the above. Cheese expert Lynne Devereux will take you through all of this and more as you celebrate all the delicious cheesy things that summer has to offer. $69 per person. 2155 Powell Street, San Francisco. 6:30-8:30 p.m.
