New and Fabulous: Dekkori Shoe Styling Pieces

By

If the shoe fits, wear it, they say. We’d wager a more important factor is how that shoe looks. But that line of thinking can lead to crippling outcomes – and not just for your toes.

For Stephanie Kim, a fascination with fabulous footwear almost jeopardized the contents of her kitchen cabinets.

“My wardrobe has always been very simple. My obsession has always been shoes,” says the SoMa-based corporate attorney, who briefly considered tossing what lay within her cupboards to eek out more storage for her ever-growing shoe collection, now topping 200 pairs.

Luckily for fellow shoe addicts, she chose another strategy. Kim launched Dekkori, a line of shoe accessories ($45 to $160) and styling pieces due in stores next month capable of transforming those classic black pumps with great fit and not much flair into stop-and-stare shoes in an instant.

“You can achieve a totally different look and decorate your shoe or your outfit based on the type of mood that you’re in,” Kim explains.

The Charisma dresses up shoes from heels to mules to become slouchy pull-on boots made of lambskin leather. For t-straps without the commitment, opt for the Initiative in black and vanilla leather. Or add snap-on substance to dainty heels with the Allure cuff in blue, bronze or black. Thoughtful details such as snaps hidden behind buckles (no need to unbuckle with every wear) and adjustable hook closures add a welcome dose of practicality, even if the shoes themselves look anything but (and thankfully so).

There’s just one downside – and we’re happy to report that it’s a temporary one. While Dekkori will be available online via specialty boutiques such as Revolve Clothing and Intermix after it ships in early August, the locally-designed line is still on the hunt for a land-based retailer in the City by the Bay. Any takers? Needless to say, we think it’s a shoe-in....
