Bike to the Theater Nights with ACT and the SF Bike Coalition
4,000 Miles at A.C.T.
This month, the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition are teaming up for two special “Bike to the Theater” nights. On January 17 and January 24, pedal-powered theatergoers will be treated to discount tickets (starting at just $10) to the show, and red carpet treatment in the form of bike valet at the event.
The special events coincide with the launch of ACT’s latest play, 4,000 miles, which is a comic-drama about a young man who arrives at his feisty grandmothers apartment after a months long cross-country bike trip (see why they chose this one as the first Bike to the Theater night?). The play has already received rave reviews in New York, scoring Time Magazine’s Play of the Year and scored two OBIEs, including Best New American Play.
While this is the first bike to the theater night in our city, San Franciscans are choosing two wheels to get to other events. The SF Bicycle Coalition hosts bike valet at all Giants home games, there are bike racks outside of most theaters, and Candlestick Park added bike racks for the first time this year.
While the idea of leaving your bike outside a theater in the Tenderloin (A.CT. is located at 415 Geary St) might make for an anxious show, the fact that nice bike-loving folks will be parking your bike and watching it the whole time—for free—is a pretty sweet offer.
So, grab your tickets to 4,000 Miles. Bike rider discount code is TRAVEL 10. Hurry, the tickets are going fast.
And the next time you’re headed out to a show, consider bringing your bike. You’ll get there faster, have front row parking, and can escape the Muni and auto traffic after the event. Happy riding!
