Scenes of the City: Rock Climbing and Bouldering At Ocean Beach, Glen Canyon Park and Corona Heights

For this week's Scenes of the City we shot local climbers in action Ocean Beach, Glen Canyon Park, Corona Heights just off of Beaver Street and on the retaining wall below the look out at Twin Peaks.

For those who want to feel the real height of rocks and mountains, I think Brooklyn Boulders is a good choice. The club has 20,000 square bouldering and climbing walls and says to be largest among the rock climbing NYC clubs.

Formal recreational facilities in Glen Canyon Park are mostly located at its southern end (see the aerial photograph). These facilities include a community recreation center, ball fields and tennis courts, playgrounds, and a ropes course. The park is also well-used by local rock climbers, who consider it one of the best "bouldering" sites near San Francisco.[3] An additional building about halfway up the canyon near Islais Creek serves the Silver Tree Day Camp and the Glenridge Cooperative Nursery School.
