Rip Curl Pro Search Kickoff and Save the Waves Film Fest
If you're into surfing, this is your week. Rip Curl's Pro Search competition touches down on SF November 1, and Surfrider is hosting an official kickoff party at Mezzanine with Transworld SURF's editor-in-chief Chris Cote and local garage rocker Ty Segall. Francesca Woodman and The Air We Breathe
The first retrospective in the U.S. in more than 20 years, this exhibit brings Francesca Woodman's haunting photographs to light 30 years after the artist's untimely death (Woodman committed suicide at the age of 22). The Air We Breathe reflects on equal rights for same-sex couples, a hot topic very close to the heart of this city. The show includes work by Simon Fujiwara, Raymond Pettibon and more.
