SF artist Windy Chien debuts a knotty jewelry collection for Cast + more local style news

Working with an artist who never designed jewelry was a brilliant move, Cast.

The pendants and earrings, inspired by Windy Chien's iconic knot works, will absolutely weave their way into your heart, and jewelry box.

Plus, Fiat Lux and perfumer Yosh created an ocean-inspired scent called Poseidon. (Anyone else sensing a theme here?)

Prepare to go all sailor-y for summer because you're going to want every piece from the Knot Life jewelry collection. It's a partnership between buzzy Cast (ICYMI: Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya wore its signature Flip ring on last season's White Lotus) and talented textile artist Windy Chien (The Year of Knots).

The knot-centric collection includes sculptural and statement-making pendants and earrings woven of sterling silver and 14-karat gold. Charcoal jade, a nod to Chien's Chinese heritage, is featured as well. It's also the first time Cast has worked with a non-jewelry designer. Likewise, the artist had never swapped her rope for precious metals before.

Cast cofounder and chief creative officer Rachel Skelly explains why she decided to swing for the fences: "I have followed Windy’s knot journey since the beginning and have always been so inspired and enamored with her work and eye. I knew that translating her artistic perspective into the medium of fine jewelry would create something magical."

Fiat Lux launches an oceanic scent with renowned perfumer Yosh.

Both Marie McCarthy, owner of jewelry and piercing shop Fiat Lux, and renowned perfumer Yosh love the sea. As each is an experienced sailor, bon vivant and successful businesswoman, it's no surprise they connected. It took almost a year, but their scent baby Poseidon was worth the wait.

A celebration of Northern California and the ocean, the limited-edition fragrance features four essential notes: salt, cypress, seaweed and, the star of the show, helichrysum (aka immortelle), a yellow flower that grows on the Mediterranean coast.

Befitting the deliciously seductive scent itself is a gorgeous special-edition jewelry set ($380) that includes a one-dram dropper bottle of perfume oil and a rose quartz figa pendant wearing FL's signature 14-karat fused bracelet. Even cooler? The pendant unscrews to hold a secret drop...so you can carry the ocean with you wherever you go. A 10ml perfume oil rollerball ($85) is perfect for reapplying on the go.
