Well, well, well, look who’s back in town. Huckberry, the men’s outdoor and lifestyle brand born in San Francisco in 2011, just opened its third-ever brick-and-mortar at 425 Hayes Street—and there’s a pretty good origin story behind the homecoming.

Fifteen years ago, co-founders Andy Forch and Richard Greiner made a pact during a ski trip to Lake Tahoe to quit their jobs and each invest $10,000 in launching a business from their North Beach apartments.

Fast-forward to today, and Huckberry has become a go-to retailer for adventure-minded guys who want to look good while, ya know, adventuring. Like its two sibling stores in Washington, D.C. and Chicago, the Hayes Valley location is part clubhouse, part gear garage stocked with Huckberry’s own brands—including Flint and Tinder, Proof, and Wills—alongside independent labels like Double RL, Relwen, and Sanders.

Spacious and handsome, with warm wooden accents and pistachio-colored walls, the new store is a veritable wonderland for guys who prefer their style with a side of adrenaline. Think hard-wearing layers, outdoor-ready gear, and everyday staples for those who’d rather be surfing before work or heading for the hills on weekends.

But it’s not just a place to stock up and get out. With a repair bench, collabs with local makers, and year-round programming that includes group rucks, screenings, and photo nights, you might just want to stick around a while.

San Francisco’s urban-meets-outdoorsy lifestyle has been part of Huckberry’s DNA since day one, according to Forch. While the company is now headquartered in Austin, Texas, the Hayes Valley store brings the story full circle. “Spiritually, the brand’s come home,” he says with a smile.

Sabai makes itself at home in San Francisco.

NYC-based sustainable furniture brand Sabai just landed in town, and it brought a month’s worth of good-looking, feel-good furniture. The AAPI- and female-founded business is showcasing its stylish, comfy, and reasonably priced pieces in San Francisco through Sunday, November 29th.

The Certified B Corp is known for promoting eco-conscious (and chic!) living through its sofas, sectionals, chairs, ottomans, and pillows. Its furniture is made in ethically run factories in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Michigan using materials such as recycled and upcycled fabrics and FSC-certified wood.

Among the pieces on display at the pop-up are two recent additions: the Eclipse Sectional, an expansion of the brand’s popular sleeper collection, and the Haven Bed, Sabai’s first foray into bedroom furniture. Also on hand: the Essential Loveseat and Club Chair, the Evergreen Storage Ottoman, the Field Rug, and a selection of pillows.

Sabai takes a refreshingly long-view approach to furniture. Its Repair Don’t Replace program lets you swap out individual parts instead of an entire piece, while its buy-back program gives pre-loved furniture another life—because a good sofa should be a long-term relationship, not a landfill rebound.

The shop is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
