Celebrate National Pisco Sour Day this Saturday
If you need an excuse to drink this Saturday, National Pisco Sour Day is as good as any. After all, back in the mid-19th century, San Francisco helped boost pisco’s national popularity by creating the renowned Pisco Punch. So on Saturday, premium Peruvian pisco maker Portón is bringing National Pisco Sour Day to two bars in San Francisco. All day on February 1, The Alembic and La Mar Cebicheria Peruana will be serving Pisco Sours - made with Portón, lime, egg white, and bitters - to help you celebrate this classic Peruvian cocktail. Raise a Pint to Strong Beer Month at Two Local Pubs
Saturday also marks the start of Strong Beer Month at Magnolia Pub and 21st Amendment Brewery. This is the 11th year of the annual month-long event, in which Magnolia and 21st Amendment each brew half a dozen special, strong beers. All twelve go on tap on February 1st: six at each location. Ask for a punch card at either pub and collect a punch for each beer you try. If you try them all, you’ll be rewarded with a commemorative glass. Start drinking soon, because both the beer and the special glasses are only available while supplies last. Magnolia: 1398 Haight Street @ Masonic; 21st Amendment: 563 2nd Street @ Brannon
