While Super Bowl 50 may bring millions of tourists and dozens of street closures to our small city by the bay, at least there will be over 35 free performances by Grammy-winning headliners, community performers, and local favorites, to make you feel (slightly) better.
The City Stage presented by Levi’s kicks off on February 3 with singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson, followed by country group The Band Perry on February 4, and pop rock band One Republic on February 5. Friday night will also feature a second Macy’s fireworks show.
Located in Justin Herman Plaza, the Fan Stage serves as presentation space for community partners, celebrity appearances and photo opportunities, as well as the main space for the DJs and MCs on the lineup.
In a break from tradition, Super Bowl City will be open for an extra weekend this year, providing locals the opportunity to experience Super Bowl 50 before the hordes of tourists arrive. Super Bowl City will open Saturday, January 30, with the official re-lighting of the iconic Bay Lights on the Bay Bridge, followed by the Macy’s Fireworks Show and a performance by Chris Isaak.
