Love Wins Again: 30 Rally Photos With All the San Francisco Feels

A protest against hate became a citywide demonstration of love as thousands of be-glittered and costumed progressives flooded the streets of San Francisco on Saturday.

There was nary a neo-Nazi in sight: Our population of drag queens, black lives, kids in tutus, modern hippies in tie-dye, police carrying Free Hugs signs, and activists from all walks of life had a field day driving the haters out.

At Alamo Square, a Love Trumps Hate banner adorned a Painted Lady, while at Ocean Beach, a human heart held fast to the American flag. In the Castro, signs were colored with Care Bears and unicorns. And at Civic Center, the audience linked arms to Michael Franti's songs of inclusiveness. The citywide message was clear: SF stands for tolerance, and brave and boundless love.

What many had feared would be a day of confrontation and even violence melted into a love fest as only SF can do. Relive the vibes with some of the most powerful moments from Instagram.
