Secret Recipe: Sungold Zinger from Range

7x7 asks the city's chefs for the recipes to their most loved cocktails, bar snacks, starters, mains, and desserts. If there's a dish you can't stop thinking about and want to make at home, email schuyler@7x7.com. Your wish may end up on the blog, along with the actual recipe from the chef.

Originally created by local bar star Carlos Yturria, this delicious cocktail has become a summer classic over the past 7 years at Range. And with the late tomato harvest, the city’s produce is still at its peak—as is the sippability of this earthy-sweet drink.

Sungold Zinger

Serves one

1 1/2 ounces Distillery 209 gin

1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

1/2 ounce agave syrup (one part agave nectar dissolved in one part water)

3-5 Sungold tomatoes

Pinch of kosher salt

1. Muddle the tomatoes with the salt and lemon juice.

2. Combine with gin and agave in a shaker, then shake vigorously with ice.

3. Double-strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a sungold tomato on the rim.
