AIA Architecture and the City Fest
It's not secret our city has some of the most iconic architectural structures and styles in the world, from all our little Victorians to the Ferry Building, Transamerica Pyramid, and beyond. Pay tribute to the tastemakers of yesteryear and the future with Architecture and the City's month-long menu of tours, lectures, exhibitions, films, competitions and more. Time to geek out!

Ty Segall performs Sleeper
Ty's doing double duty, performing his buzzed-about new album Sleeper for the masses not once, but twice this week. If you haven't heard, this one's rife with emotional heartbreak, loss, inner strength, and confusion, but never loses any of Ty's signature feistiness along the way. Mike Donovan and Jessica Pratt open his New Parish show.

Chuck Close and Linda Ridgway at John Bergruen Gallery
Chuck Close: Important Works from the Past Forty Years marks the renowned artist’s second solo exhibition at the gallery, and the first since 1999, so you'll want to hightail it down the John Bergruen gallery to get your fill. While you're at it, get a load of Ridgway's show The Anonymous, which showcases the artist's sculptured themes of femininity, tradition, and heritage.

Broke Down in Bakersfield at the Indy
Brokedown in Bakersfield is a collective of acclaimed West Coast artists joining forces in a spirited tribute to the Bakersfield sound: California country music made raw and rocking, spiked with twang and sweetened with heartfelt harmonies. Betcha didn't know Bakersfield had its own country music tradition!

The world's best sailors combine with the world's fastest boats for a treat us San Franciscans won't like see again for decades. The finals start this week, so now's the time to stake out a spot on the waterfront and catch the high-flying action.

Fun. at the Greek Theatre
Their name says it all. These big winners at this past year's Grammy Awards have sold out the Greek both nights (impressive!), so get on Craigslist and troll for tickets, starting now. Tegan and Sara open, which only sweetens the deal. Expect a lot of hand clapping.

The Acid Test: Incarnations of Ram Daas at The Marsh
This one's right up San Francisco's alley: Acid Test tells the true story of Ram Dass, spiritual seeker, as he explores his life from the time of being Richard Alpert, a Harvard psychology professor from a wealthy Jewish family to, along with Timothy Leary, starting the psychedelic revolution. With playwright Lynne Kaufman behind it all, you know it's gonna be a winner.

Moonrise Kingdom at Washington Square
Wes Anderson's latest twee sensation gets some love in the great outdoors of Washington Square Park. Because Indian summer is approaching, we're hoping layers of clothing will truly be optional, but bring some just in case–along with a blanket, snacks, a bottle of wine (or two!) and someone to keep you warm.
