Walk on Shaky Ground

Did you know that in the 1906 earthquake the earth around the San Andrea Fault shifted and moved 16 feet? If you dare to tread along the very same fault line, there will be a ranger who will walk you along the earthquake trail. Along the walk, you will be shown evidence of seismic activity in the region, as well as taught about why earthquakes happen and what is so special about this particular fault line that makes its way along the Californian coastline. The walk is only about a mile long, and anybody can attend. Check in at the Bear Valley Visitor Center to see which part of the trail is being walked.

When: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4 (best be a little early so you can join up with the ranger along the trail)

Where:Bear Valley Visitor Center, 1 Bear Valley Road, Point Reyes Station.

Enjoy Live Music at a Winery

In celebration of summer, Long Meadow Ranch Winery have been hosting a series of outdoor concerts on their beautiful green lawns. This Sunday, come and watch Sean Hayes preview his new album which is released next month, while enjoying some incredible wines and gourmet food. Hayes was born in New York City and raised in North Carolina. On a whim, he threw some clothes and a guitar into the back of his friend’s car and made his way to San Francisco. This free spiritedness can definitely be heard in his music and he has already toured with artists such as Jolie Holland, Ani DiFranco and the Cold War Kids. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. with the concert kicking off at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $40 and include a free glass of LMRW wine.

When: From 3 p.m., Sunday, August 5.
