Wedding Inspiration: Dress Blues and a Saber Arch Ceremony in Sonoma County

By

When Daseul Son and Derek Kenmotsu met online, they connected, among other things, around a love of travel.

It would be later in Positano, Italy that Kenmotsu proposed; they to wed just eight months later in their then home of the Bay Area before moving to Hanoi, Vietnam.

The guest list was as diverse as their travels with friends arriving in Sonoma from Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Seoul, Hanoi, Bangkok, Singapore, Toronto, Berlin, Amsterdam, Mexico City, and around the U.S. The two also paid homage to their cultural backgrounds, and Kenmotsu's army friends provided a traditional saber arch ceremony.

While the groomsmen all wore black tuxedos, the bridesmaids each wore a different shade of blue, flanking Son in her beaded, cap-sleeve gown.

Decor was kept simple to allow the beauty of the grounds at Ramekins to shine with a plethora of greenery. Bouquets too were kept classic with ivory bundles for the bridesmaids while Son's included a touch of blush. Framed by a stone sculpture, they stood under an existing arch structure to say "I do."

The clean palette continued into the reception, where single sprig of rosemary garnished each plate. The newlyweds made their grand entrance, adorned in modernized versions of the Korean hanbok, designed by Son and her mother.
