ODC/Dance Goes International
Kudos to San Francisco's very own ODC/Dance for being chosen to participate in 2010's international DanceMotion USA tour. Selected by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the US Department of State and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), ODC/Dance will be one of three dance companies to represent the United States in a new cultural diplomacy initiative. The program is dedicated to sharing American dance with international audiences as a way of bridging the gap among diverse multicultural communities.
Our acclaimed contempary dance company will spend four weeks in January and February 2010 teaching and performing in Indonesia, Burma and Thailand. The two other participating are Evidence, A Dance Company and Urban Bush Women (both based in Brooklyn, NY), who will tour Africa and South America, respectively. In addition to performing in local venues, all three companies will participate in workshops, master classes, media interviews and discussions with local artists and foreign audiences.
So, if you happen to be planning a trip to Southeast Asia, pencil one of these performances in and support our local talent.
