1058 Hoagie's the City's Newest Drool-Worthy Pop-Up

Adam Mesnick, owner of SoMa lunch spot Deli Board, has earned a legion of fans for his well-constructed, meaty sandwiches. Now the Cleveland native is getting down and dirty with 1058 Hoagie, a pop-up shop on Russ Alley, open a couple nights a week. “I wanted to make a sloppy, messy sandwich,” Mesnick says, and indeed, his behemoth concoctions drip cherry pepper juice from the second bite. Fortunately, Mesnick’s 12-inch soft sesame roll—made especially for him by a top-secret local bakery—does a valiant job of holding it all together. Beginners should order the classic No. 1 (capicola, mortadella, Genoa salami, provolone, seasoned onions, cherry peppers, shredded lettuce, and pepper-garlic sauce).
All sandwiches are $10 and can be delivered via bike messenger. After finishing one half, you’ll want to wave the white flag. Or in this case, your many used napkins. For now, the takeaway hoagies are ideal for Giants night games. Stay tuned for a possible brick-and-mortar store soon.
Editor's note: 1058 Hoagie is opening up a shop on 7th Street! For now, their pop-up sandwich-making services are on hold.
