First Drink and Bite: The Sycamore
The Sycamore, the city's newest beer-and-bar-bites spot, calls itself "Your Favorite New Bar in the Mission." Based on its 15 five-star-perfect Yelp reviews, that statement might just be correct.
I headed to the Sycamore last Sunday for lunch, battling a serious case of the SF summer blues. The light-filled, burgundy-walled space (which formerly housed Cafe Prague and Country Station Sushi) was just the antidote. The menu features a well-rounded wine list, 8 draft and 17 bottled beers (including the spine-tingling La Fin Du Monde) and meaty, Boston-inspired eats.
A must-try is their already-buzzed-about tender roast beef sandwich, which is enveloped in a pillowy sesame bun with a side of mayo and "sauce" (a more tangy, Bostonian version of barbecue sauce, though not as sweet) to dip it in.
Their mix-and-match sliders pay tribute to the most classic of sandwiches (fried chicken, bacon, beef and lamb burgers). The BLT, made with Niman Ranch bacon, slices of heirloom tomato, butter lettuce and smoked paprika aioli, was somehow both juicy and crispy, and the lamb burger, its insides sprinkled with herbs, cumin and chili powder and topped with caramelized onions and melty manchego cheese, was enough to make me forget the fog.
Open from 11 am to midnight (they're hoping to extend their hours soon), the Sycamore's hosts a happy hour every day from 4-7 pm, during which you can get any draft beer for $1 less than the regular price.
And let's not forget the killer jukebox, full of the Swell Maps, Echo & the Bunnymen, and punk jams, or the back patio with picnic benches, which we'll save for a future sunny day.

DTM, Becky & Anon,
Problem has been corrected, guys. Sorry for the mix up and thanks for alerting us.
Yes, the supposed $1 draft beers was quite a draw. Too bad it wasn't accurate! We were sorely disappointed when we trekked over there yesterday only to discover we'd been misinformed...
Jason, wish I would have saw your post earlier. I just went (luckily it's only a block from my place) and was extremely disappointed when I saw it was $1 off not $1 beer. Yikes!
Sloppy reporting.
The headline from the email is $1 drafts, this is repeated in the body of the article.
According to the Facebook page and when I called sycamore it $1 off all the drafts 4-7.
C'mon 7X7, I really expect more from what I consider a qualuty publication.
I believe the old sushi place there was called Country Station. Country Time? That's lemonade.
