Grab a jacket and head down to Fort Mason for the Friday night Off the Grid extravaganza. With over 30 trucks present, no matter what you are craving one of the mobile food trucks will be able to satiate your hunger. If it’s drinks you’re after, then there is of course a full bar to cure what ails you. With plenty of seating, free music (and a small dance floor), craft and soul, it is as much as party as it is an outdoor dining experience. Though the carts shelter the worst of the wind, it still gets pretty cold once the sun sets, so make sure you bring along something warm to put on. Come down from 5-10pm at Fort Mason.
Saturday, June 23
If you want to escape the madness of Pride Weekend, then head to the New Taste Marketplace for some delicious street food. More than 25 food makers, caterers, carts, and food trucks come together to help raise money for the local Food Pantry, an organization that helps provide food to those who need it in SF. There is plenty of fantastic food, including heaps of free samples, as well as live music to keep the masses entertained. In honor of the Pride Festival, there will be a “blessing of the bears” for any furry friends who drop in. From 12-5 p.m. at 500 De Haro Street

If you want to escape the throngs of people flocking to the city for the Pride March, then head out to Mill Valley for the 31st Annual Mill Valley Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting day. This year’s event will feature over 65 premium wineries, 15 craft breweries, 30 specialty food purveyors and 10 local restaurants and chef. Every year new wineries are introduced and mouthwatering gourmet foods are offered for sampling by both local chefs and food vendors. From cheese makers to ice cream, the Mill Valley Wine & Gourmet delivers the best of the best. Located among beautiful redwoods and with a live jazz all day, it promises to be a Sunday to remember. Tickets cost $40 in advance and can be purchased here. From 1-4pm at Mill Valley Depot Plaza, Downtown Mill Valley.
Feeling like a taste of Thailand without the 18 hour flight? The Thai Temple, located only a few blocks from Ashby BART, is serving up incredible, super-cheap Thai food along with an open marketplace - giving you the Thailand feel without needing to leave the Bay Area. Choose from any of the delicious curries including: red curry, yellow curry, pad thai, the green beans, fried chicken, and grab a seat on the lawn. There are also a range of Thai style drinks to choose from. The lunch goes from 10-1 p.m. but it’s best to get there early because the food can sometimes run out after 12 p.m. 1911 Russell Street Berkeley.

Over the past decade several craft distillers have emerged in the Bay Area. Though not all of them have survived, this "SPIRITual" evening pays homage to the finest Bay Area artisans. During the evening you will enjoy a four-course seasonal menu prepared by Chef, Mark Sullivan. The food will be expertly paired with the exquisit cocktails of barman, Brandon Clements. Guests will also sample each of the St. George base spirits. It costs $110 and the evening begins at 6:30pm. Spruce, 3640 Sacramento Street.

Gather ye vegans and rejoice! The monthly Noisebridge casual workshop-style food hacking event is here again! Every month Hacker takes a new dish (like ravioli, corn dogs or even twinkees) and explores how to creatively make a tasty vegan version. This week participants will learn how to make vegan burgers. It is free but RSVP is required. Come relive those comforting days spent in fast food joints at the mall or the snack shack on the beach - only without all the sketchy ingredients and animal products. Long considered some of the healthiest food on the planet, Mediterranean food is also some of the tastiest. The whole region has a long history of fine food using a variety of spices and ingredients to create their fantastic dishes. Here in SF, The Family Chef, Amy Fothergill, is going to show people who to create authentic mediterranean food. Participants will be able to watch Amy in action before being devouring some of her delicious food. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased here. Local food and art nonprofit, 18 Reasons sprouted a cafe called 18th hour earlier this year. Located inside 18 reasons every Thursday night, it offers a changing weekly menu of beer, wine, cheese, charcuterie and vegan bites, with prices ranging from $3-$16. The café features a curated schedule of art exhibits and music. The night not only creates a great space for people from the Mission to enjoy as well as supporting 18 reasons.
