Tasty Places Where You Can Take Mom for Mother's Day

By

Mother's Day is Sunday May 12th (you know this, right?), and there are many ways to express to your mom that she’s the best. Considering how many meals she’s made for you in your lifetime, here are some places where you can take her for brunch, ranging from fun to totally fabulous. (You can also check Open Table for places that still have availability, since most restaurants are offering something special.) Make that reservation, like, uh, now!

Spruce
You can enjoy a higher-end brunch from chefs Mark Sullivan and John Madriaga at Spruce for $65 per person. The swanky interior is a great place to make mom feel special, and if she’s a little bit of a cougar she’ll love the darling staff. Rawr. You get to select three courses, each with various choices, like the eggs Benedict with short rib, plus a basket of breads and pastries to start. Brunch is available 10:30 am–2:30 pm.

Twenty Five Lusk
Is Mom pretty stylish? Then she'll dig this SoMa space with a chic modern interior, which happens to be offering a three-course Mother's Day brunch for $35 per person. You'll get choices for each course: A small plate, an entrée, and a dessert (check out the cherry pancakes with pickled ginger, chocolate, basil, and maple syrup, or a fried green tomato BLT with an egg).

Locanda
For a sneak peak of the brunch that will be served at the upcoming Pizzeria Delfina in Burlingame, check out the Mother's Day brunch at Locanda. The Italian-inspired brunch includes cornmeal corzetti pancakes and buffalo yogurt with strawberries, and will be served with mimosas, Bloody Marys, and other brunchy beverages. It's all available from 10:30 am–1 pm.

Marla Bakery at State Bird Provisions
If Mom is into pop-ups and other adventures, catch Amy Brown and Joe Wolf of Marla Bakery at State Bird Provisions. Brunch will be served on Mother's Day from 11 am–4 pm, with goods like rye toast with tea-smoked sturgeon, a "Mr. Croque" (that's 4505 smoked ham, mostarda, Gruyère, and dry jack on levain with pickled ramps), and a strawberry cake parfait, plus egg dishes, housemade yogurt, and lots of breads and pastries. They'll be taking limited email reservations for Mother's Day, too, just be sure to put "Mother's Day/Reservations" in the subject line.

Craftsman and Wolves
If, for whatever reason, you can’t go out with Mom on Mother's Day proper (and there are a lot of really good reasons, like not digging crowds), may we suggest a weekday alternative? Craftsman and Wolves serves a fantastic afternoon tea Monday-Friday 1–5 pm. Everyone gets a pot of tea, and a gorgeous tower of their sweet and savory treats, and it’s a total steal at $40 for two.

And, of course, be sure to find Mom some nice flowers! And maybe a little chocolate. You can nab both at the Mother’s Day Eve event at Flora Grubb Gardens on Saturday May 11th, where Recchiuti Confections will be popping up with lots of chocolatey delights for sale.
