Bicycle Music Festival This Saturday

Bicycle Music Festival This Saturday

By

There’s a lot going on in San Francisco this weekend, you may have heard. While the Pride festival will be happening downtown, Pink Saturdays in the Castro and Dyke March in Dolores Park, another festival will be making a quieter presence in the city. This Saturday is the 6th Annual all day Bicycle Music Festival, held in Golden Gate Park and Potrero Hill.

If you’re a bike-loving San Franciscan, more specifically, if you’re a Burner/hippie bike-loving San Franciscan, this is the place to be. And even if it’s not your scene, it’s still a pretty awesome concept and worth a look. The entire festival is bike-powered, meaning every speaker, every electronic, every normally gas powered gear runs on pedal power alone. Last year they had everything from reggae to punk acts (pretty sure the punk shows require more pedal power).

So limber up your legs and take a spin out to Golden Gate Park. I’ll pedal out there at some point, mostly for the Hotbike tacos sold by bike. So glad to hear that venture is up and running!

If you can’t make it the Bicycle Music Festival because you’re inundated (read: hung-over) from the other festivals, take a look at this video from a past year:

As of writing this, the Bicycle Music Festival’s website is down. Guess someone stopped pedaling. So here are the details:

Saturday, June 23

12-10 p.m.

Pioneer Log Cabin in Golden Gate Park (Stow Lake Dr and JFK Dr)

In the evening, they’ll move to the Showplace Triangle at 16th and Wisconsin.
