Jewelry Artist Faye Kendall Says Horsehair Is a Must-Wear

By

When it comes time to add a new accessory to our treasure trove, we are consistently in want of Faye Kendall's creations. Since 2013, the NorCal sculptor has held our hearts on a string with her unusual necklaces made of horsehair, glazed ceramic, brass, bone and leather. It's wearable art—in a good way, we swear—that works perfectly with eclectic San Francisco wardrobes.

Horsehair, of course, isn't for everyone. Animal lovers may have, er, beef with the designs (remember when PETA trotted after Angie for her horsehair purse?), even though it is widely stated that the ponies are not mistreated or harmed for the use of their hair. To connect with Kendall's art sans the fur, she also crafts fiber jewelry for your walls—with a bit of Southwestern flavor, her decorative home pieces strike a balance between the eccentric and the natural world—stunning salt stalactites, and chimes made of crystals and feathers. You can shop Faye's accessories through her webstore, and at miramira
