Delano Las Vegas: An Aesthete's Escape from the Strip

Delano Las Vegas: An Aesthete's Escape from the Strip

By

There are two kinds of people: Vegas people, and the rest of us.

Should you belong to the camp that prefers your neon in smaller, more sophisticated doses, and frittering cash on cashmere rather than throwing it down the rabbit hole known as the slot machine, then the brand-new, but perfectly understated, Delano Las Vegas (from $200 per night) is for you.

Opened in September adjacent to Mandalay Bay (where the casino carpets are dank with decades of cigarette smoke), the all-suite Delano is an ambient oasis with elegant design, spacious rooms, nary a dinging game in earshot, and that fundamental requirement of good health, clean air. What’s more, a farm-to-table culinary philosophy informs the menu options at Della’s Kitchen; caffeinated beverages of the global, artisanal variety are served in the chic 3940 Coffee + Tea; and Franklin, the lobby lounge, is a glowing spot for an intimate tete-a-tete over a bourbon or glass of bubbly.

But the real jewel here is the Bathhouse Spa, a 14,000 square-foot subterranean refuge that feels like the dark, deep tomb of Agamemnon—in every luxurious way. Soaring textural rock walls surround hot and cold plunge pools, a eucalyptus steam room, redwood sauna, and gym. For real pampering, order up the red rock anti-aging body scrub and wrap…and spend the whole day lazing about.
