Classic Christmas: The Prettiest Decor Around San Francisco

By

Photographer Daniel Triassi logged over 80,000 steps ("I need to borrow a bike next time!") as he traversed the city in a quest for the most marvelous holiday decor. What he found came to his surprise: San Francisco, it seems, isn't much in the holiday spirit this year.

"One wreath is pretty much the standard in this city!" he said, decrying the town once known for over-the-top-ness to have become so...plain. But in his wanderings there were moments of magic, too. The common theme? It's a classic Christmas in SF.

A plaid moment in Presidio Heights.

Beribboned in the Castro.

Nutcrackers guard a North Beach fire escape.

Over the top, as always, in the Castro.

In Lower Pac Heights, symmetrical wreaths are simply lovely.

Less is more in Pacific Heights.

More is more at The Palace Hotel's Garden Court.

No one does a Christmas tree like the Rotunda at Neiman Marcus.

Pacific Heights preppy.

Wayfare Tavern's windows invite us to eat, drink, and be merry.

A majestic mood at San Francisco City Hall.

Santa sees all in Laurel Heights.
