Pace Setter skirt by Lululemon
My mother forbade me to be a cheerleader in high school for fear of premature sexual exploration (I’m not saying she was a reasonable woman), so 25 years later I’m finally donning a pleated mini—the Pace Setter skirt by Lululemon. Granted, I’m not doing basket tosses or arabesques in them, but thanks to the built-in shorts, I can run trails without fear of indecent exposure.

The return of Linda Evangelista
Glory be! Unparalleled supermodel Linda Evangelista, famously billed by America's Next Top Model's Tyra Banks as "a model's model," will return to the spotlight. She'll appear in print as the face of Dolce & Gabbana latest beauty cream. What kind of cream? Who cares. (Fine, it's for D&G's newest age-defying franchise, The Lift Foundation and The Primer.) While other noted '90s models have turned into parodies of themselves — Naomi cashed in on her diva-like antics as a screeching judge/mentor on her own reality show, while Kate Moss continues on a worrisome downward spiral — Linda has maintained that powerful, breathtaking aura she served up on the runway many years ago. Linda, we welcome you back. This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes.

I'm no cat person. But as feline muse to the one and only Karl Lagerfeld, Choupette is no ordinary kitty. Which is why I am among the nearly 40,000 Twitter followers obsessed with the pampered puss' life of private jets and haute couture. This Flammarion book release, due out September 9, is going to make the purr-fect present for my fashionable friends come holiday season.

Patrick Hall's stunning portraits
Charleston-based photographer Patrick Hall shoots portraits of people — after they’ve been hit with high voltage from a stun gun, voluntarily! What sounds cruel plays out as a fascinating look at people’s reactions, and causes the viewer to second-guess their own ability to read someone else's emotional state. Some, obviously, look like they’re in a great deal of pain, or surprised. However, others look appear as if on the verge of orgasm. I’ve been mesmerized by the slo-mo videos as well — which you can watch here. They have the feeling of director Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi trilogy, or his more recent Visitors, simultaneously drawing us in but leaving us to decipher exactly what we’re seeing.
