Three Reasons to Cross the Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco is blessed by its proximity to incredible national parks, beautiful townships and famous wine regions. What better time to explore them than during the stunning summer months when the the sun is almost always shining? Here are three things that are tempting us to go north.

With 14 chefs from around the country participating, Heritage Fire is national, but definitely local in flavor. Tickets cost $150 and can be purchased here

Take a Walk Back in Time

Before Europeans came to California, the Marin and Sonoma counties were home to the Coast Miwok people. They knew and blended in with the rich landscape for thousands of years, developing a rich economy based on gathering, fishing and hunting. On Sunday morning a join a ranger guided tour of a replica Coast Miwok village. The walk itself is under a mile.

Where: Meet at the Bear Valley Visitor Center, 1 Bear Valley Road Point Reyes Station.

Enjoy a Street Fair in Fairfax

Bolinas Road in downtown Fairfax will be closed this Sunday afternoon for the strangely communistic sounding “Streets for the People” event. Celebrating local businesses, citizens, and art, it promises to be a fantastic event. Featuring free "back to school" haircuts for kids, yoga, bike tune-ups, and community artwork there will be no shortage of activities. Modelled vaguely after San Francisco’s “Sunday Streets,” the Fairfax event is alcohol free (unless of course you venture into one of the bars), but there will still be plenty of food options available.

When: Sunday, August 26 @ 12-4 p.m.

Where: Along Bolinas Road between Broadway and Elsie Streets, Fairfax.
