A Cocktail + a Warm Evening: Where and What to Drink Tonight
Quick! It's hot and is going to continue to be (well, for another day or so). A good cocktail, a real, full-on patio with open air and a warm night equals lots of happiness. Get to it.
You can't argue with the sweeping, gorgeous rooftop deck at this new restaurant/bar/event space whose motto is "take it outside."
Drink this: Smash Hit (rye whiskey, muddle lemon, mint)
Presidio Social Club
Set in the chill, outdoorsy Presidio, this restaurant has a back patio overlooking tennis courts.
Drink this: Mai Tai (classically made with white and dark rum, lemon juice and almond syrup)
There's still not a patio that can hold a candle to this Mission classic. Elegant and urban. Only caveat: You're competing with diners who have reseravations.
Drink this: Soviet Sunset (Stoli peach vodka, fresh grapefruit juice, Lillet)
Though they still don't have full service on the front beer garden here, you'll work around it. Plus there's a fountain and fancy ice. Tip: Bar Agricole is building a stand-alone bar just for the patio. Until then, sit tight.
Drink this: Sleepyhead (brandy, ginger, mint, lime, sparkling wine)
Big, bold, Peruvian drinks and Bay Bridge views to kill for from a big waterfront patio.
Drink this: Pisco Punch (pisco, lemon juice, pineapple syrup)
With the same view as La Mar, this Pat Kuleto destination puts you just a hair closer to the Bay Bridge. Which isn't a bad thing.
Drink this: Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger beer, lime juice)
A total scene for people that like total scenes. The real Bay view is across the street, but from the Embarcadero-facing patio, can catch wind of the sea air.
Drink this: Vee V (Aperol, lemon juice, muddled strawberries)
Nettie's Crab Shack
Watch the Union Street scene go by on the front patio of this seafoodcentric restaurant.
Drink this: Louisiana lemonade (pepper vodka, lemon, spice)
A huge deck always filled to the brim with the good-times crew of the Marina.
Drink this: Pickwick Julep (rye whiskey, grapefruit, mint, gomme syrup)
