Napa Valley Distillery Opens Vintage Barware Shop

By

Because even Napa knows man cannot live on wine alone, into the heart of the region comes a one-stop-shop for all your cocktail needs.

Napa Valley Distillery, the first distillery to make high-proof booze in Wine Country after Prohibition has opened a retail location and vintage barware store in the Oxbow Market.

Best known for his vodka (which is made from Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc), founder Arthur Hartunian also makes bourbon, bitters and several liqueurs, all of which he uses for his barrel-aged cocktail program. While he can't sell grain-based spirits at his new shop (thanks to liquor laws reminiscent of Prohibition), his fruit based concoctions made with brandy and vermouth (like the sidecar) will be available at the Oxbow shop.

In addition to his own creations, Hartunian is excited about his impressive (and he claims the largest of its kind) collection of bitters from all over the world — which you can actually taste.

When it comes to the perfect cocktail, presentation is, of course, just as important as the ingredients. Hand-etched glasses from the '10s, '20s and '30s add an art deco twist to up and with a twist. Hartunian says he has been building his vintage barware collection for years and promises that every spoon, shaker and strainer is authentic.

The Oxbow Public Market, 610 First St. Napa, CA 94559, 707-22-OXBOW. Open seven days a week from 9:30 am -8:30 pm
