Last-Minute Labor Day Getaways in Northern California

Last-Minute Labor Day Getaways in Northern California

By

It’s hard to believe that summer is nearly over. Well, summer for most of the world. Here in San Francisco we’re hoping that it’s just starting to heat up and if we’re lucky, maybe we’ll get to dust off our shorts and wear them for a few hours this September and October. Nonetheless, for many, Labor Day weekend marks the last chance of the season for a summer getaway. So for those last-minute travel planners among us, we’ve put together this round-up of three Northern California getaways where you can still find availability.

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. While finding waterfront availability this weekend at Lake Tahoe will be hard to come by, you’ll still find some rooms and suites available at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, which is located just north of Tahoe City near Truckee, California on Northstar Resort. Some of their current offers include free valet and their “bed and breakfast” package, which features a full breakfast for two in one of their two restaurants, Manzanita or Mountain Blue. The Ritz-Carlton spa includes 16 treatment rooms, fitness center, and two pools.

North Block Hotel, Napa. For less city, and more country, just north of the town of Napa is the North Block Hotel in Yountville. Situated around a central courtyard, the North Block Hotel is a small, contemporary hotel with 20 guest rooms, all of which feature either a patio or balcony. The hotel is home to Redd Wood, from chef Richard Reddington, who is know for the Michelin-starred Redd in Yountville. Current packages at the North Block Hotel include the “Pedal, Pamper, and Plunge” package, which features a self-guided wine and bike tour of the area, 60-minute massage, and a plunge in the pool.

Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco. For many people, this is one of the best weekends to be in San Francisco. The Indian summer is just starting and many residents ditch the city for wine country, Tahoe, or Burning Man. So why not treat yo’ self in San Francisco? The Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco recently got a new facelift, debuting numerous upgrades for their 25th anniversary. Upgrades include a new marble lobby, refurbished rooms and suites, and a new restaurant, Brasserie S&P.  The hotel has numerous packages, such as the bed and breakfast package that comes with a daily full breakfast for two, and the “MO Essentials” package, which includes valet parking and a continental breakfast for two.
