We caught up with this stylish Upper Haight couple to talk shoe addictions, favorite foods and more. 


Verlance Friar (left) is a youth development extraordinaire. Nima Khabiri (right) is the opereations manager at D-Structure. 

In her bag: wallet, scarf, snacks, water, journal, graph paper, pencils, makeup, chapstick, hair spray, keys and lots of bus transfers at the bottom.  

In his bag: Pop Tarts, deodorant, toothbrush, hoodie and a water bottle. 

What Verlance wore: Levi's chambray shirt, Docker's orange pants, and Ambig hoodie, all purchased from Buffalo Exchange; Official hat, purchased from D-Structure; Target stud earring; Things Remembered engraved bracelet, gift from family; Converse sneakers; Eastsport backpack, purchased in Atlanta. 

His product picks: "Neutrogena face wash, cocoa butter, Degree, Mane 'n Tail conditioner, and Claiborne Sport cologne (my classic scent!)."

"I have more shoes than most girls. We'll say, ballpark...150 pairs," said Verlance. "I know. I have a problem!'

What Nima wore: BDG shirt, from Urban Outfitters; Rue 21 denim vest, purchased in 8th grade; Sunglasses from D-Structure; Bullhead shorts, purchased from Macy's; Graphique leather slip-ons, purchased from Wasteland; Turquoise ring, purchased from Larimar; Bracelets from Bob's handmade silver in Maine; Baggu backpack, purchased from Urban Outfitters.

Her product picks: Clinique moisturizer and bronzer, Bad Gal mascara by Benefit and Jingles conditioning spray. 

Seven Questions for Verlance and Nima:

1. What's your best style tip?

V:Confidence is the best accessory. 

N:Dress how you feel. But if you feel tired or lazy, that doesn't mean you should wear pajamas in public.

2. What's one thing most people don't know about you?

V:I'm pretty good at roller-skating.

N:I modeled for JC Penney when I was 10.

3. What's your drink of choice?

V:Smoothies or a pina colada...even if it's virgin! 

N:Water with lemon by day. Vodka by night.

4. What's your guilty pleasure?

V:Anything fruity. Chewy candy. 

N:I have a lot. But I'll go with Celine Dion today. 

5. What's your current anthem?

V:Montell Jordan "This is How We Do It".

N:"Don't Take it Personal" by Monica. Brought it back this week. Come on, you remember!

6. What's on your wish list?

V:A camel leather jacket and Nike Lebron 8 Pre Heat.

N: Everything! But really, black ankle boots.

7. What's your SF Top 5?

V:Dr. Teeth's for 25 cent wing night, Milk Bar when they have their house DJ who plays 90s hip-hop and R&B, the Panhandle basketball courts for pick-up games, Dolores Park for the amazing city view and "characters," and Siam Lotus Thai is just so good.

Nima:Cuco's for their plantain burrito, Dear Mom's papas fritas must have crack in them, Wasteland for really awesome vintage finds, Dolores Park for good people watching, and Lou's Cafe has the best sandwiches.
