The Cass Clutch designer Debra Szidon lives in Lafayette, her ginormous (18"x 18") bags are made in Berkeley, and their eye-popping shades take their cues from Northern Cali treasures: Tahoe Blue, Stinson Amber and Big Sur Green, to name a few. (Our fave is Cisco Fog.) Crafted of quality suede and leather that only gets softer over time, these beauties ($495 to $530) are serious statement makers and are also quite versatile, transforming from folded clutches to totes. The only downside as far as we can tell? The bags are so roomy that fishing for your lipstick or keys may take a minute. Lululemon gets inspired by Chinese Lunar New Year.
We would expect nothing less from the athletic apparel retailer—after all, it's the Year of the (downward) Dog. To celebrate, Lululemon has introduced a rich red print with an intricate floral motif. ICYMI: Red symbolizes good fortune and joy for the new year (Friday, February 16), and blooms like magnolias, peonies and lily blossoms are prominent symbols in Chinese culture and art. The hand-drawn illustration was digitized and transformed into a photo-real print for a limited-edition collection of sports bras, pants, shorts and tights. Needless to say, all the pieces are hot, and yoga-ready. Prices range from $58 to $128. One of San Francisco's best-loved tee makers has upped, and expanded, its game with Weekend Sport. Marine Layer's new men's and women's retro-inspired collections feature pieces made of a new technical fabric that's super soft and moisture-wicking with four-way stretch. It's available in three different weights to cover all possible weekend activities, i.e. working out, Netflix marathons, and brunch.
