SF Pride: The Best Events Going Down this Weekend

Where to celebrate San Francisco Pride this week.
46th Annual San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade
What: The largest LGBT Pride celebration in the country, this year's theme for the 46th annual parade is "For Racial and Economic Justice." Among all the feather boas and glitter, keep an eye out for the celebrity grand marshals including Chef Melissa King (you probably know her from Top Chef), Boardwalk Empire and The Wire star Michael K. Williams,
the cast of Transcendent, and a special appearance by Queer as Folk's Randy Harrison. If you can't march or stand, tickets for grandstand seating are $40 and can be purchased here.

Where: Begins at Market and Beale Streets, ends at Market and 8th Streets in downtown San Francisco
San Francisco to Honor Orlando's 49 Victims with Permanent Dedications on The Bay Lights
What: In honor of the Orlando shooting victims, 49 LED lights will be dedicated on The Bay Lights with each name of the deceased. Photos along with hashtags #LGBTQ #ShineItForward and #SFPride of the light dedication can be viewed online throughout Pride week.
When: June 20-27

Trans March + Dyke March
What: The annual Trans March (June 24) and Dyke March (June 25) will both take place this weekend, beginning at Dolores Park before departing on march routes at 6 p.m. If you're looking to maintain your fitness this weekend, check out the 37th annual Pride Run in Golden Gate Park on June 25th.

What: Sponsored by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and San Francisco Pride, a memorial for each of the 49 victims of the Orlando shooting will be constructed and brought to the SF Gay Pride parade in quiet tribute to the brothers, sisters, and allies that was lost on 06/12/2016 at Pulse Night Club. San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus Presents "Heartthrobs: Biggest Boy Band Ever"
What: The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus is bringing over 250 singers to Nourse theater for a must-see Pride show this weekend. The performance features top hits from pop musicians and bands such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles, the Bee Gees, Boyz II Men, Mumford & Sons, One Direction, Mark Ronson, and Bruno Mars, accompanied by Well-Strung, a singing string quartet. Tickets range in price from $20-60 and are available now or by calling City Box Office at (415) 392-4400.

What: A giant rainbow slip 'n' slide will be at Fort Mason Lawn during Pride weekend. Donations from the event will be split between Pulse Orland Relief and the SF LGBT Center. Invite all your friends to attend the biggest bubble bath in the Bay Area!

The Pink Triangle Commemoration at Twin Peaks
What: The side of Twin Peaks will be transformed into a colorful memorial this weekend with the installation of the annual pink triangle, made up of dozens of pieces of pink canvas. The Pink Triangle commemorates the gay victims who were persecuted and killed in concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Installation will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday with a commemoration ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The Pink Triangle will be taken down on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

What: If you're looking for a daytime dance party to end your Pride week celebrations, Queerly Beloved is upping the ante, with not one but three musical acts this year. Performers include DUBAIS, Ah mer Ah Su, Courtney Trouble, Ancient Wing and DJs Jenna Riot, IZLA, OND4 and Workalook. Tickets can be purchased for $13 in advance.

Pride-Flavored Three Twins Ice Cream
What: Three Twins is bringing back their Pride-inspired ice cream flavors this year, including Bear Bait (honey ice cream with chocolate peanut butter cups); Pride Vanilla (pink vanilla with beet powder); Maple Stonewall-Nut (maple walnut); 2 Tops Don't Make a Bottom (vanilla ice cream with muffin tops) and Transgender Pride Flag (madagascar vanilla, cherry, and blueberry). Man Haters: Women. Queers. Comedy Pride Show
What: "Man Haters" is a monthly comedy show featuring the funniest women and queer comics in the Bay Area. In the spirit of Pride week, Man Haters will be hosting their June 23rd Pride-edition show. The lineup features all queer comics as well as a raffle for a $75 Good Vibrations gift card and $75 Good Vibrations goody bag, plus handmade wares from local queer artists and artisans. Tickets are $10 at the door and $7.70 if you purchase them in advance.

In the Queer Kitchen: A Conversation with John Birdsall, Preeti Mistry and Nik Sharma
What: John Birdsall is is a food writer and ex-cook from Oakland. Pretti Mistry is the chef and co-owner of Juhu Beach Club and a former contestant on Top Chef Season Six. Nik Sharma used to be a molecular biologist but now works full time as a food photographer and writer. Watch these three great minds discuss food, the Bay Area, and the perks of being a queer chef. The event is free but you must RSVP to attend.

Free Entry to San Francisco Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers
What: To kick off Pride weekend, the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department will open the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea Garden, and the Conservatory of Flowers to the public free of charge on Friday. The Conservatory of Flowers will be lit up in rainbow colors for the first time ever throughout Pride week.
