On the topic of sex, Dr. Emily Morse is an expert. For two decades, the sex therapist and creator of the hit podcast and media company Sex With Emily has been doling out the answers to everything from how to have better orgasms to how to get over a break-up.

Though she currently lives in Los Angeles, Morse long called Noe Valley home. She started her now famous podcast here, and even spent a stint writing an advice column for 7x7. So, on a recent visit to San Francisco while on tour for her new book Smart Sex: How to Boost Your Sex IQ and Own Your Pleasure, we couldn’t help but ask the sex maven what she misses most about the Bay, from her favorite brunch spot to the hotel she just can't quit.

What’s your favorite place for brunch or coffee?

I love the house-made pop tarts and the most delicious bacon at Foreign Cinema (2534 Mission St., Mission).

What’s your favorite Bay Area park for hiking or biking? Why?

Mt. Tamalpais (3801 Panoramic Hwy, Mill Valley) has endless trails and destinations for both hiking and biking and you’ll always end up somewhere with the perfect view, perfect weather, and unique terrain. You can’t go wrong on Mt. Tam—but you might get lost.

WhatBay Area venue do you love most for seeing art or theater, or listening to live music—and the most memorable show you’ve seen there?

I’ve seen so many wonderful shows at The Fillmore (1805 Geary Blvd., Tenderloin) but the most memorable was Wilco.

What’s your favorite date night spot?

Love the supper club vibes at Bix (56 Gold St., Jackson Square), with its high ceilings and charming jazz every night. A post-dinner walk through North Beach always leads to more adventures.

Where do you like to take out of town visitors?

Tennessee Valley Hiking Trail (591 Tennessee Valley Rd., Mill Valley), followed by brunch at Sunnyside (31 Sunnyside Ave. #1, Mill Valley) combines two of my favorite things: breathtaking views and a bountiful, delicious brunch.

Tell us where you love to escape for a weekend in Northern California?

I love a restorative weekend at Calistoga Spa Hot Springs (1006 Washington St., Calistoga): Floating in their mineral bath for hours, snagging one of their complimentary bikes, and heading for a delicious meal down the street.

What California hotel or resort have you visited more than once or would you love to go back to?

Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur (47900 CA-1) is a place I will continue to go back to for its beauty, breathtaking views, and incredible dining experiences. I love the secluded redwood rooms, stargazing by the fire, and late night dips in the hot tub.
