Bill Murray Commandeers Cab From Oakland To Sausalito

A curious cry for help or the antics of an artist? You decide: Bill Murray, buster of ghosts and erstwhile Suntoruy spokesman, made headlines this week after he drove a cabbie's car from Oakland to Sausalito on Thursday. Why? Because he wanted to listen to the taxi driver play his sax.

Barbecue, of course, was also involved.

Murray told the vehicular tale while speaking to a crowd at the Toronto Film Festival this past Friday. Mercury News has the glorious details:

So the driver mentioned he played the saxophone. "I said, 'When do you practice?,' Murray reportedly told the Toronto Film Fest crowd. "He said, 'I drive 14 hours a day.'" Murray then asked him, "Well, where's your sax?" The driver said "In the trunk."

Murray then reportedly told the cabbie, "Pull over and get in the back, I know how to drive a car.'

"Not only did he play all the way to Sausalito, which is a long way, we stopped and got barbecue. He (wound up) playing in what some would call a sketchy, weird place in Oakland at 2:15 in the morning. I was like, 'Relax, man, you've got the (expletive) horn! We're cool!' And it was great and it made for a beautiful night!"

Delightful. Also, nice to know that not everyone feels the need to Uber these days.
