Sweat Outside with Socially Distanced Workouts Around the Bay Area


If you just can't take another Zoom workout and are in need of some IRL encouragement and workout buddies, you'll find plenty of ways to get your sweat on—and stay virus free—around the Bay Area.

While San Francisco's Phase 3 reopening of gyms and fitness centers is still weeks—if not months—away, you can stay in shape with outdoor bootcamp, boxing, yoga, and reformer classes. Expect safety precautions including socially distanced spacing, contact-free sign ins, temperature checks, and mask-wearing while you sweat—the physical release and bridge or ocean views will be worth it.

In addition to at-home live workouts, Dryft is now offering 45-minute recess-style, bodyweight classes at Marina Green on Saturdays at 9am, 10am, and 11am, limited to 12 people per class. Still need convincing? If it's not too foggy, get your Golden Gate Bridge fix while you sweat. Revision Athletics

If you didn't give Revision Athletic's outdoor-only fitness classes a try pre-quarantine, now's the perfect chance. Each site-specific class has a different focus—on Mondays, stop by Kezar Stadium for a cardio-focused endurance class; visit Aquatic Park for a Beach and Bleachers class on Tuesdays; and work your entire body outside Crissy Field Center with a Full Body Friday class. With all classes held at the beach, even before the coronavirus, we've missed Outdoor Yoga SF's community-centric yoga classes accompanied by ocean waves and groovy tunes via headphone. Choose between 75-minute morning power yoga and sunset yoga classes—and a brand new Friday evening class with 60 minutes of yoga followed by 60 minutes of dance.
