Bouquets to Art
Usher in springtime with the 28th annual Bouquets to Art event at the de Young, which has drawn 600,000-plus visitors and has raised nearly $5 million for the fine arts museums of SF since its inception. Dress your girly best and take in the extravagant designs by more than 140 of the Bay Area's most creative floral designers.

Alvin Ailey and ODC Dance
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater takes its annual place on the stage with an array of programming for Cal Performances including definitive classics like Revelations. Meanwhile, ODC/Dance Downtown presents its 41st home season with three world premieres including Breathing Underwater, which features a score by avant-cellist (and former Hot 20) Zoe Keating.

Geoff Dyer
Litquake's new monthly literary salon, Epicenter, welcomes novelist, essayist, and NYT Book Review columnist Geoff Dyer for an evening co-presented with The Believer. This is Dyer's only Bay Area appearance for his newest book Zona.

Jonathan Safran Foer's New American Haggadah
Everything is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close author Jonathan Safran Foer calls his latest "the user's manual for Passover." Jewish or not, it's worth the ticket to see Safran Foer talk about his remaining of this old text.

How We Date Now
Part of the monthly Yerba Buena Arts in Dialogue series, this panel discussion looks at how we date in the age of Google, Facebook, and OkCupid. Speakers include SF Appeal's Eve Batey, Sex and Technology expert Violet Blue, OkCupid's chief strategy office Nick Abramovic, LGBTQ columnist Oscar Raymundo, and lifestyle coach Jesse Starlight.

Art enthusiasts, listen up. This Broadway hit penned by Oscar-nominated author John Logan (The Aviator, Gladiator) is about the struggles Mark Rothko faced to finish a big mural project for New York's Seagram Building at the height of his career.

DJ Questlove
The Roots drummer and frontman will do a solo set at the Indy. This one's a no-brainer.

St. Patrick's Day
Celebrate the luck of the Irish with a tame (read: alcohol-free) festival and parade downtown before hitting up the pubs for a few pints before the Guiness, Smithwick's, and Harp taps run dry. The largest Irish event on the West Coast includes more than 100 floats, Irish jigging dance troupes, marching bands, and more. Check back later this week for more on where to chug after you've had your good wholesome fun.
