Would You Eat This Escargot Burger?

Would You Eat This Escargot Burger?

By

Oh dear.

Parisian Chef Nicolas Ronan and Bisou Bistronomy, that little French place in the Castro on Market Street, are now offering something delicious or downright horrifying, depending on your culinary taste: The Escargot Burger.

The burger patty — which, again, is made of cooked land snails — is placed atop a mini sesame seed bun and laced with parsley aioli, coleslaw, tomato, caramelized shallots, and smoked xérès (a sauce made from a demi-glaze flavored with wine or sherry). And in case you're not already feeling French enough, there's an option to add a slice of seared foie gras to the thing.

While I'm down with eating a myriad of oddities — whipped lard, alligator meat, Geno's Pizza Rolls — I think I'll have to take a pass on this latest burger concoction.  Should you want to sink your teeth into a patty of seasoned snails, head to Bisou Bistronomy2367 Market (at 17th Street).
