Drink Here Now: Agave Girls, Birthday Beers, and Happy Hour

Sometimes I take baths because it's hard to drink wine in the shower.

Agave Girls 10th Anniversary Gathering

Who knew tequila was such a uniting force? Ten years ago, TV personality and award-winning cookbook author Joanne Weir launched Agave Girls, a women's tequila tasting club. During this month's meeting the Agave Girls will celebrate a decade of drinking and discussing tequila. Space is limited for the tasting party on Tuesday, February 23, which starts at 6:30pm at Copita Tequileria y Comida in Sausalito. Tickets are available online ($70) for the three-course dinner paired with tequila cocktails. // 739 Bridgeway Ave. (Sausalito); copitarestaurant.com

Brewcade's First Birthday

Brewcade turned one a few weeks ago, but never got around to celebrating. To make up for their belatedness, they're throwing a week-long party from last Saturday, February 13 to this Sunday, February 21. Stop in for vintage video gaming and get a can of Ol' Republic Brewery's Kolsch Gone A-Rye for $4, plus complimentary popcorn topped with your choice of flavors (Cajun spice, ranch, cheddar, or Ms. Dash garlic and herb). // 2200 Market St. #102 Castro); brewcadesf.com

Happy Hour at Hecho

Next door to Brewcade, Hecho hosts a 5-6-7 Happy Hour every weekday from 5 to 7 pm. Enjoy $5 big Coronas, $6 quesadillas, and $7 classic Hecho margaritas. Save room for a few $5 fried avocado tacos, topped with pico de gallo and chipotle crema, all tucked into a soft, flour tortilla. // 2200 Market St. (Castro); hechoinsf.com

Pisco Sours Go Native in SF

You don't have to be Peruvian to love Pisco, and you don't have to go to a Peruvian bar to get a mean Pisco Sour. Don't believe us? Try Alicia Walton's spicy "La Pachamama" at The Sea Star (2289 3rd St.), made with Encanto Pisco, chili-infused Aperol, lemon, honey, and egg white. Or Tim Hagney's "The Money Tree" at Maven SF (598 Haight St), made with pisco, sage, orgeat, champagne vinegar, and egg white. If you're still not convinced, belly up to Barbarossa (714 Montgomery St.) for Christina Cabrera's "Barbary Sour," made with Encanto's new Barkeep's Whimsy Pisco, kiwi-mint syrup, lime juice and egg whites. You can thank us later.
