Escape From SF: Alamere Falls

Escape From SF: Alamere Falls

By

We escaped toAlamere Fallsin Point Reyes on Wildcat Beach for a day of hiking, tide pooling, waterfall gazing, and, most of all, an escape from San Francisco. Fed by Alamere Creek, the 40-foot tidefalls (a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean), can be reached from several different trailheads. Palomarin (currently closed due to storm damage; check here for updates) is the most popular starting point via Coast Trail, but the falls can also be reached from Five Brooks trailhead via the Stewart Trail. Here's a map to help.

Feeling adventerous and energetic? Visit nearby Wildcat Lake, Bass Lake (great swimming), or Pelican Lake just off the seashore. Another favorite is Arch Rock, which can be reached via the Coast Trail.

Spring or winter are the best season for visiting the falls, especially after a nice rainfall.
