211 Sutter Street: Now an Orgasm Pop-Up Shop
Not since Samantha Jones has a woman brought the female orgasm to heightened awareness. But this time, it's not HBO, it's reality. OneTaste founder Nicole Daedone is bringing her conversation about slow sex to the streets via a pop-up called "Project Orgasm Is...". The art installation and yoga spread triples as a space where you can get a taste of the orgasm entrepreneur’s teachings. The previous Loehmann's men's store on the corner of Sutter and Kearny just got a lot more interesting.

I sat with Nicole for some slow sex 101 since I have yet to read her just-released book Slow Sex: The Art and Craft of the Female Orgasm. We wrote about Nicole and her orgasmic meditation classes back in February, and this pleasure point is the next stop on the sexual awareness trail. I was intrigued on so many levels. A big hook for me was fighting the stereotype that hot sex dies with marriage. OneTaste strives for sex to go from “Good to better for the rest of your life.”
Until July 18, you can pop in and join the conversation, literally. There are fill-in-the-blank "Orgasm is..." signs all around where you can chalk in your orgasm musings. There are fill-in T-shirts and Sharpies, too. SF-based TCHO Chocolate is around — you are encouraged to suck on it, slowly — as is relaxing Numi Tea. Daily yoga, book signings, chocolate tastings, Nicole cameos, lunch hour lectures, and casual mixers are lined up.

Project Orgasm's "Desire Booth" makes you think. The booth houses a mirror and iMac ready to record your innermost desires and what orgasm means to you. Soon enough, the confessionals will loop on big flat screens facing outward, for the world to see, and hear.
Curious? The kick-off party is Wednesday, June 29, from 7-10pm. Nicole will speak of fakes (orgasms, that is), and there will be live orgasm-inspired art, a raw food caterer, and tantalizing tunes.
Project Orgasm, 211 Sutter Street, open daily 11am-7pm (9pm Wednesday and Thursday), men are more than welcome.
