Scenes of the City: Creepy Alcatraz

By

Earlier this week, we explored the lush gardens of Alcatraz, but in the spirit of all things spooky and haunted, we took another trip to The Rock to capture its eerie side.

It's no secret that Alcatraz is allegedly haunted. Paranormal activity has long been witnessed by security guards, Park Services employees, and even visitors, who have been spooked by everything from unexplained sobbing, clanging pipes, whispering in cells, phantom shadows, cold spots, and more.

The D-block is considered to be the most haunted by "paranormal experts" and cell 14-D may have the most macabre energy since it was the site of the worst punishments; it's reportedly 20 to 30 degrees F colder than anywhere else on the property. And you can only imagine what went down in the hospital.

Whether you believe in supernatural spookiness or not, there's no denying that Alcatraz is one creepy place. Wouldn't you like to spend the night?
