Footwear Gets an Artsy Makeover in New 'Shoerageous' Exhibit

Shoemakers are, of course, artists in their own right. For proof, take a look at your nearest pair of Stuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo, or even a simple Converse. Local artist collective Creativity Explored gives us their take on sneakers, slippers, clogs, boots, pumps, and other footwear this month with their newest exhibit, Shoerageous, running from August 14 through October 1.

Cheekily billed as a "sole-searching" show, Shoerageous features work by more than two dozen of the organization's artists. From a ceramic cupcake-tiered high heel to two-dimensional drawings of popular athletic footwear, the artists show off their ideas of gorgeous shoes while using media ranging from air dry clay to digital prints and paper maché.

No matter how highend or casual, the shoes you choose to wear represent, in part, who you are, who you want to be. And Creativity Explored has you pegged.

Shoerageous: Form, Function and Fantasy in Footwear: Runs August 14 – October 1 at Creativity Explored Gallery, 3245 16th Street

Opening reception: Thursday, August 14, 7 – 9 pm.
