Robots Rise Up to Deliver Your Heart's Desire at an Aloft Hotel
Children aren’t our future, robots are, especially those that serve us on request. And that future is now. On August 20, the Aloft Hotel in Cupertino will debut A.L.O. Botlr, their in-house service bot. Funded by Jerry Yang, former CEO of Yahoo!, and Google Ventures, the droid you want was built by Savioke.
Botlr will be given a trial run to deliver items to rooms upon customer request. After he brings you that plate of fries and nightcap, you can thank Botlr by tapping his interactive phablet face (phace?) or by tweeting your gratitude with the hashtag #meetbotlr. If the robot is successful, Starwood Hotels, the parent company of Aloft, W, Westin, St. Regis, and other hotels, will be rolling the bots out into additional properties soon.
