Silicon Valley Auto Show

WHAT: The 2017 Silicon Valley Auto Show roars into the Bay Area this weekend with all that is new in the automotive world. The San Jose McEnery Convention Center will be packed with hundreds of the latest cars, crossovers, SUVs, exotics, test drives, solar cars, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, custom rides, and more.

Bowie Tribute Sing-a-long

WHAT: Kitten on the Keys, aka Bay Area local Suzanne Ramsey, is hosting a Bowie Tribute Sing-a-long on Friday in honor of the legendary musician's birthday (Jan. 8). A pianist, accordionist, and singer, Ramsey will guide fans through some of Bowie's greatest hits.

Oakland Critical Mass + First Friday Art Walk

WHAT: Join your fellow pedal pushers for the monthlyOakland Critical Mass, a group bike ride that takes you for a scenic ride through downtown Oakland and ends at the First Friday Art Walk. Pedestrians can cheer on the riders as they pass through some of Oakland's most popular streets including Broadway, Grand Ave., around Lake Merritt, Park Ave., Piedmont Ave, and E. 12th St.

2017 San Francisco Tape Music Festival

WHAT: America's only festival devoted to the performance of audio works projected in three-dimensional space, The San Francisco Tape Music Festival features four distinct concerts of classic audio art and new fixed media compositions by 26 local and international composers. Hear members of the SF Tape Music Collective, along with guest composers, shape the sound live over a pristine surround system (24 high-end loudspeakers) with the audience seated in complete darkness. Tickets range from $10-$60.

16th Annual No Pants BART Day

WHAT: Drop your pants for the 16th Annual No Pants Subway Ride. The whole point is for 600+ people to ride BART or Muni without any pants (interesting undies and colorful socks recommended) and to keep a straight face while doing so.

Asian Art Museum Free Admission Day

WHAT: San Francisco's Asian Art Museum is one of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian Art, with a collection of over 18,000 artworks spanning 6,000 years of history. Check it out for free this weekend.

Rare and Unseen Photos from the Tenderloin

WHAT: Randy Shaw, author of The Tenderloin: Sex, Crime, and Resistance in the Heart of San Francisco, will present a slide show of images from the neighborhood spanning from 1907 to 1971. Afterward, stick around for a book signing and viewing of Tenderloin historical objects in the California Historical Society's collection. Visit the Tenderloin Museum to see more rare and unseen photos on display until January 16th. Tickets are $5.

100 Days Action

WHAT: 100 Days Action is a calendar of activism to counteract President-elect Trump's first one hundred days in the Oval Office. While in residence at Oakland's Royal NoneSuch Gallery, 100 Days Action plans to host a series of events including an Inaugural Ball on Friday, January 20th where gallery goers can swear to uphold the constitution on a book of their choosing (selections include On the Origin of Species, The Republic, Borderlands, and The Feminine Mystique). Check out 100 Days Action's calendar for more events, both artistic and activist, happening each day between now and February 15th.
