Wedding Inspiration: A Timeless Affair at SF's University Club

By

The wedding of Jacklyn Nguyen and Mark Tran could have been set in nearly any time period in the history of San Francisco: There was the traditional Catholic ceremony at the Inner Richmond's stately St. Ignatius Cathedral, built in 1855; the party at Nob Hill's 127-year-old University Club, where a stylish dinner was served in a dark and moody atmosphere; and, of course, there was the modern couple, dressed to the nines, and in shades no less, for maximum photo opps.

In addition to feting the bride and groom, the day celebrated family members both present and departed: Jacklyn wrapped her bouquet in a locket containing her late father's photograph; at the reception, guests wore buttons with pictures of family members who'd passed on. But no sadness here: As his new bride perched atop a piano, Mark surprised her with a serenade of N*SYNC's "This I Promise You." Never a dull moment.
