A Mezcal Bar in Russian Hill, Yakitori Tuesdays at Namu Gaji + More Tasty Happenings

Your guide to the tastiest foodie happenings going down this week. Bon appetit!

Mezcalito Opens in Russian Hill

Mezcalito, a new bar dedicated to all things mezcal, opened Wednesday in Russian Hill. Patrons can expect a full bar mixing up riffs on classic cocktails, such as the barrel-aged mezcal negroni and the Xoconostle Bramble (mezcal, St. Germain, Xoconostle shrub and lime juice). For snacks, there will be Oaxaca-inspired small plates by Chef Matt D'Ambrosi (Picco). Think octopus tostadas, pastor pork belly tacos, and Mexican chocolate tres leches. // Open daily, 5pm-midnight, 2323 Polk St. (Russian Hill), mezcalitosf.com

The Duchess to Open in Oakland

Oakland is getting a new watering hole in the Rockridge neighborhood called The Duchess. Behind the concept is Caroline Conner, a former pastry chef at Nopa, and Chris Strieter, a wine connoisseur. They're also enlisting the help of local food consultant and chef Candice Caris to help run the kitchen. The menu will be hearty and delicious, featuring sourdough waffles and sausage and egg Dutch muffins for breakfast, chicken nuggets and grilled cheese with tomato soup for lunch, and poutine and fish and chips for dinner. The Duchess is scheduled to open September 30. // Open daily starting September 30, 5422 College Ave. (Oakland), duchessoakland.com

Yakitori Tuesdays at Namu

Jesse Koide (a.k.a. the Pink Zebra) is popping up Tuesdays at Namu Gaji, where he'll be cooking delicious yakitori. And should you come with a voracious appetite, there's also a crokune, a tsukune-filled sandwich using a croissant from Neighborhood Bakery, that demands to be conquered. Admire above. // Every Tuesday, 5pm-10pm, 499 Dolores (Mission), pinkzebrasf.com

Eat Real Festival Returns to Oakland

The Eat Real Festival returns to Jack London Square this month, from September 23-25. The three-day food extravaganza brings together dozens of local food vendors, startups and acclaimed restaurants with a gorgeous view of the waterfront. On our to-do list: pollito tamales from Alicia's, savory ricotta fried doughnuts from Girl Friday Zeppole, quick and easy burgers from Locol, and so much more. Remember to wear your stretchy pants! // September 23–25, Embarcadero West (Jack London Square), eatrealfest.com
